InspirationsLABOR Finding Your Purpose: Uncover Your ‘Why’ & Value for a More Fulfilling Professional and Personal Journey!
David Packard, co-founder of Hewlett-Packard stated to a training group in 1960:
“I think many people assume, wrongly, that a company exists simply to make money. While this is an important result of a company’s existence, we have to go deeper and find the real reasons for our being…Purpose (which should last at least 100 years) should not be confused with specific goals or business strategies (which should change many times in 100 years). Purpose is like a guiding star on the horizon—forever pursued but never reached. Yet although purpose itself does not change, it does inspire change. The very fact that purpose can never be fully realized means that an organization can never stop stimulating change and progress.”
I believe this “purpose” statement also applies to every individual. Reflecting on my diverse life experiences, including living in 10 countries and 11 years of parenting for four children followed by founding a sustainable business KAIKÔ, I’ve found that aligning my actions with my purpose and values has been the driving force behind my achievements.
Whether you’re navigating the corporate world, freelancing, running your own business or lost in your career/life path (which most of us do!), understanding your “why” and embracing core values is transformative not just professionally but in life overall. While elements like marketing, product development, and strategic planning are undeniably crucial, having this guiding principle could ensure the endurance, fulfilment and prosperity of your journey. Harvard Business School Review states “When you have a clear sense of who you are, everything else follows naturally.” Discovering your “Why” necessitates a deep understanding of yourself—your passions, strengths and weaknesses.
In my upcoming InsprationsLABOR, we will embark on a journey TOGETHER to uncover your guiding star that will seamlessly weave into both your business and lifestyle.
